About me

Hi. I’m Michael, and I’m an independent interdisciplinary researcher of behavioural design.

What I do

I synthesise ideas across fields such as Learning Sciences, psychology, behavioural design, HCI, and UX, through a systems-thinking lens to understand how some environments support us and others create friction in the wrong places.

I look at how digital and real-world environments shape behaviour and impact our wellbeing, how spaces influence decision making, and how learning happens in everyday life, both without and within educational contexts.

I use these insights to design better systems, reduce cognitive load, and help people and organisations create environments where harmful behaviours become more difficult and helpful behaviours become easier.
